MM2 of The Locust Tips
Pre-alpha rounds punish habits, not “meta knives.” These tips are the ones that keep showing up in Discord and in good Locust / Sheriff clips.
Start here only after How to Play. Tips without role rules just make louder mistakes. Pair this page with survival, hide spots, and the bugs list so you do not blame yourself for a stuck morph.
Classic Murder Mystery 2 habits still apply: do not AFK-hide the whole round, do not panic-fire the gun, keep moving after a peek. The Locust morph just makes every bad habit louder. This nest also has nest-specific rules below.
Innocent tips that actually stick
- Master two loops per layout, not one closet. Static hides get searched; see hide spots.
- Save single-use stun tools (taser-style items when your build has them) for emergency grabs, not hallway ego checks. Details on items.
- Explore map geometry in the lobby or early seconds. Key / coin / vent routes change less than people’s courage.
- Treat every “free Robux” voice line as Locust until you see a gun model. Voice page: Voice Chat.
- When Sheriff dies, path a second door to the drop. Front-line pickups are Locust bait — How to Get the Gun.
Sheriff and Hero tips
- Confirm the mesh before you shoot. Panic shots end the town.
- Hold angles; do not chase Locust into cube volume or door silhouettes.
- If you die, call the drop heading once. Spamming “gun” is a Locust radio.
- As Hero, take one calm shot. Reload theater loses rounds.
Locust tips
- Sheriff first. Coins do not shoot you.
- Two bait lines, then silence. Long rants paint your heading — How to Play Locust.
- Use doorway and cube lip geometry. Straight sprints feed Sheriff flicks.
- If your build sells Locust in the shop for Robux, still learn geometry. Paid morph does not aim for you — see shop.
Session hygiene
Jump-scare audio is part of the fantasy. Sensitive players should lower SFX at night. Pre-alpha bugs (stuck Locust, mobile attack miss) are listed on bugs. Rank and player-count spikes make queues louder, not smarter — track patches on events.
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the searches this nest actually gets.
What is the single best tip for new players?
Third person, audio on, never stand still on the colored cubes. Everything else is role detail.
Should I buy Locust every round?
Only if your build has a shop purchase and you already understand Sheriff priority. Money does not fix a bad opening path.
